This just in....

We got the amnio results this morning. Everything looks good and we're officially having a girl. Hot damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's still only slowly it's dawning on us that the end result of this whole process is that we're going to have an actual baby. Who will need things like a crib and a stroller. And who will someday be a teenager, and then even an adult. Woah!

The reality of it all sneaks up in little waves. Last week, for example, we went to go check out the crib our neighbors down the hall are selling. We've been thinking that the baby will sleep in our room for the first few months--since she (ooh, that's fun to say) will likely be waking up several times, why walk in to the next room in a fog when we could just stumble a few steps? But when we saw that crib all we could think was, "Woah, that sucker is big." It honestly looked like the Titanic. We got out of there as fast as we could and have vaguely decided that the baby can sleep in something like a Moses basket or something we don't even know about yet until it's time to move into her own room (currently Kate's office/guest room). Luckily, we've still got 4-1/2 months to continue to wrap our brains around it and find just the right place for the baby to land.
