The Last Supper (In Bed) (maybe)

What you are currently witnessing is--hopefully--the last time we'll be required to eat dinner in bed due to the kitchen renovation. Allegedly, the contractors will finish painting tomorrow and we'll be able to move furniture back into the living room. Hallelujah. Since Scott is building and installing our cabinets, his work is just beginning, but every day we'll get a little bit more of the kitchen back. At this point, I'm excited just to have another room to inhabit. Cooking can come later. We also re-hooked up our washer and dryer tonight and are now doing our first load of laundry in almost three weeks. It's tremendously exciting! More kitchen photos soon.

On the baby front, she's still kicking and growing. Still head down. We have an appointment with our midwife tomorrow afternoon, but all signs point to everything moving right along. We have one more parenting class to take--newborn care--this Saturday. Then, thankfully, we'll be officially certified as parents. :) In our childbirth classes, we watched lots of videos of women in various stages of labor, did some deep breathing, went over some massage techniques, and spent a lot of time sharing our fears and hopes for the birth. It was a real kick in the pants. And at the breastfeeding class, we all got to practice breastfeeding with a quilted, stuffed boob and a Cabbage Patch Kid. If any of you out there still have babies in your future, take the class that happens over one marathon weekend and get it over with! Don't do the five evenings of three hours each stretched out over five weeks--it feels eternal.

Hi Kate,

I've been thinking of you and Scott lately. The time is running out... I really hope you get your kitchen and house back before the baby.

As far as all the baby gear: some you'll need, some you'll never use but you never know what will give you a 5 minute break and then it's all worth it. I hope everything goes well for you, and please keep posting to your blog even after the baby so we can keep an eye on the baby.

Take care.
